A Day in the Life: Drinking vs. Sober
The last few years of my drinking is something that I refer to in my mind as the dark chapter. This was when alcohol slowly seeped into every area of my life until it it was the only thing left. Alcohol was so necessary to get my creative juices flowing, but I would drink so much that the screen would become a bright blur. I started missing afternoons at the gym, even opting to skip dinner and drink the caloric difference. Every social activity revolved around alcohol with other heavy drinkers, normalizing a toxic cycle of hangovers from hell, blackout memory lapses and repeated escapisms.
